A critical joint in the body for many reasons….it plays a large role in our functional ability (getting out of a chair, climbing stairs, bending over) and it is an area of balance, along with our pelvis whereby our center of gravity is centered. So implications of malfunction here can contribute or help cause: balance deficits, low back pain, sciatica, knee malalignment, and ambulation difficulties among others. Often, the hip is only treated by itself when in fact it needs to be within its operating system including the pelvis, low back and leg at the least. Many times even hip arthritis can be less painful if the ‘system’ is treated as a whole. Seen here a mobilization technique to improve the joints specific mobility allowing ease of movement and less pain. This would be followed by neuro re-education and then functional training in weight-bearing as indicated.
